Fiberglass Mat with Asphalt Granules
Most architectural shingles are made of a heavy fiberglass mat and then coated with granules that are embedded in asphalt. This provides a water-tight shingle that will last for years and years. They are durable, attractive, and weather resistant.
Wind Resistant Shingles
Since architectural shingles are heavier than most three tab shingles they have a greater resistance to wind. Our Midwest weather gives us plenty of that so having protection is mandatory. Rain, sleet, and snow will stay on the outside – where it belongs. They also have a longer warranty because of the heavier weight.
