Leaking Roofs Don’t Mean Do-it-Yourself Repairs
You may have looked up at your roof and seen some shingles blown off or maybe found the remnants in your yard. Maybe your roof is leaking inside your home. Common places are around chimneys and the roof valleys.
Trying to fix your roof yourself is usually not the best answer to your roof problems. I can’t tell you how many roof repairs we have had to do to not only fix the leak but to repair the damage that an amateur roofer tried to fix.
Roofing Repairs – Little Things can go Wrong Quickly
Roofs are tricky to fix. Just going up on your roof and applying some roof cement can cause more damage than you had in the first place. It only takes a little pin sized gap in the cement for water to enter your home. Roof cement applied in the wrong way can pool water in small areas and then seep into your roof damaging the roof deck and your drywall.
We’ve also heard of several instances when a well-planned roofing repair by the homeowner went bad when they actually fell off the roof. Even roofs that don’t appear to be steep can easily let you slip and fall. It’s not a place for the inexperienced.
